Grease and food oil on upholstery: avoid spreading the mark

Identify the spill
Tell us whether the mark came from cooking oil, food, lotion or another oily substance. If there is loose food on the surface, lift it gently without grinding it into the weave. Avoid rubbing and do not assume that dishwashing liquid or a household solvent is safe for upholstery. The furniture label and material assessment should determine which products, if any, are appropriate.
Do not experiment on the visible area
Adding several products can leave rings, residue or dye changes around the original stain. Heat can also affect the material and make the situation harder to assess. Note anything already used and keep the packaging or product name for reference. If a chair has wood trim or painted details close to the fabric, mention those surfaces as well.
Include the rest of the chair
